Sean is securing a strong reputation behind the camera,
having directed three short films for which he is already receiving a
great deal of industry attention. His first, entitled On
My Honor, was a 16-minute 35mm short based on his own idea about
the exchange between an American and a Vietnamese soldier. Caught in a
trap, they must decide whether to work together. They are forced to consider
each
other's humanity as they fight for survival.
In 1995, Sean was nominated for the Academy Award® for best live
action short, for Kangaroo Court, which he
directed and co-produced with his
wife, Christine. Sean's father, John Astin, was
nominated in the same category in 1969 for his original short, Prelude.
Sean's new short film The Long and Short of It screened at Sundance 2003.
